DIY: Reusing Light Bulbs

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

What you do with the old light bulbs? Here is an idea of how to reuse old light bulbs:

Use craft knife to cut the end of the light bulb:

We covered the end of the light bulb with a piece of cloth.

Then we used a cup coaster as a base for the light bulb:

We created a flower from magazine paper to fill the light bulb, real flowers can be used also.
Look at this post for DIY Magazines Flowers ideas.

DIY: Decorate your Events with Magazines Papers

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

So you have an event, but you are restricted with the budget.. We already posted an idea in this post about how to use magazines papers to create some ornaments.

Here are more ideas with the instructions for creating your event decoration.

Project 1: Fluffy Flower

  • Collect magazines papers with the color you desire for the flower.

  • Draw 8- 10 circles on the papers.
  • Cut the circles.

  • Stack the circles on top of each other.
  • Cut from the sides

  • Rotate the circles, so the direction of the cut will be different in each circle.

  • Staple the circles on the center

  • Crumble the circles little bit, to get the fluffy flower.

Project 2: Rose Flower

  • Collect magazines papers with the color you desire for the flower.
  • Draw a spiral.

  • Cut the spiral.

  • Roll the spiral, starting from the outside.
  • Put it down so the flower will spring up little bit, and it will show as an open flower.
  • You can use glue or scotch tape to close the end of the flower.

Project 3: Ornaments

  • Collect magazines papers with the color you desire for the flower.
  • Cut the magazine paper into half

  • Fold the magazine from the smaller side (2-sides fold)

  • Fold each part from the middle, and staple it to form half of the circle.

  • You can trim any uneven parts of the paper, but make sure that the two parts have the same size
  • Staple the two parts together to form the full circle
  • To get bigger circles, use the full size of the page and match it with another page.

Idea: Ombre Style Ornaments from Magazines Papers

Thursday, February 28, 2013

Here is an idea for how to recycle old magazines to create ornaments for your parties and events:

Use the pages of the magazines that have one color dominate on them (mostly these will be ads pages).

Fold the pages, you will get halves, and quarters. Match the colors of them to form circles.

Here we arranged the ornaments to have the ombre style:

Hope you liked the idea !
